Dave is a web developer who’s been around the web since 1994. Well versed in JavaScript, DHTML, AJAX, JSON, CSS and a few other relevant buzzwordable skills, Balmer is currently a Sr. Software Engineer and lead client side developer for Engage.com.
He’s a former web dev for Yahoo! Health, Yahoo! Local, Yahoo! Maps, and My Yahoo! as well as a bunch of startups and entrepreneurial pursuits. He’s a recovering Perl addict (and CPAN contributor), and in a former life was a strong C/C++, VisualBasic and Java developer focused on more traditional back-end development. At various points in his career, he actually made money as a UI designer, but decided there was more to life than having clients drag him into the quest for the “perfect shade of blue”.
Current professional explorations include HTML5, the CANVAS tag, and iPhone application development.
